This policy explains important legal notices relating to the sale, use, maintenance, servicing and legal operation of electric bikes, electric scooters, batteries, chargers, parts, accessories and repair services purchased from us.
Electric bikes, electric scooters and related products can pose risks if they are used incorrectly, unlawfully, modified, poorly maintained, ridden in unsuitable conditions, or used without proper care.
By purchasing or using products from Electric Scooters London, you agree that you are responsible for using them safely, lawfully and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, local laws and this policy.
Nothing in this policy removes your statutory rights where goods are faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality, or where services are not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Privately owned electric scooters are currently not permitted for use on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes, parks or other public places in the UK.
Unless and until UK law changes, privately owned e-scooters may only be used on private land with the landowner's permission.
Customers are fully responsible for checking and complying with current UK law, local rules and any landowner requirements before using an electric scooter.
Electric Scooters London does not encourage, promote or authorise the unlawful use of privately owned e-scooters on public roads, pavements, cycle lanes or public land.
In the UK, an electric bike must meet the requirements for an Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) to be treated as a normal bicycle for road use.
In general, a compliant EAPC must have pedals that can be used to propel it, must not provide motor assistance above 15.5 mph / 25 km/h, and must not have a motor with a maximum continuous rated power above 250W.
Some electric bikes, off-road bikes, high-powered models, throttle-controlled models, unlocked models or modified products may not be road legal in the UK unless they are registered, insured, taxed where required, and used with the correct licence and safety equipment.
Customers are responsible for checking whether a product is suitable and legal for their intended use before purchase and before riding.
Product descriptions, specifications, images, range estimates, speed figures, motor ratings, battery information and manufacturer claims are provided in good faith and are often based on information supplied by manufacturers.
We make reasonable efforts to keep product information accurate and up to date. However, specifications may change without notice, and small differences may occur between product batches, colours, accessories, displays, tyres, brakes or other components.
Range, speed and performance can vary depending on rider weight, Terrain, hills, tyre pressure, temperature, riding mode, battery condition, wind, load, maintenance and riding style.

Electric bikes and electric scooters are vehicles and require regular inspection, servicing and maintenance, like any other vehicle.
The customer is responsible for checking and maintaining the product, including brakes, tyres, bolts, folding mechanisms, handlebars, wheels, lights, cables, chain, bearings, battery condition and tyre pressure.
Failure to inspect, service, or maintain a product properly can cause mechanical or electrical failure, reduced braking performance, tyre failure, loose components, loss of control, accidents, serious injury, or death.
Before each ride, customers should check that the product is safe to use. If anything feels loose, damaged, unusual or unsafe, the product should not be used until it has been inspected or repaired by a competent person.
We strongly recommend wearing suitable protective equipment, including a helmet, and riding responsibly at all times.
Lithium-ion batteries must be used, charged and stored with care. Customers must follow the manufacturer's charging, storage and safety instructions.
Only use the correct charger supplied with the product or specifically approved for it. Using an incorrect, damaged, incompatible or non-approved charger can damage the battery and may create a fire or safety risk.
Do not charge a battery that is swollen, leaking, unusually hot, smells strange, makes noise, has been dropped, has suffered impact damage, has water damage, or appears unsafe.
Do not open, modify, repair, puncture or tamper with batteries, controllers, wiring, chargers or electrical systems unless you are qualified and authorised to do so.
Battery misuse, water ingress, crash damage, incorrect charging, poor storage, deep discharge, unauthorised repairs or modification may void warranty coverage and may make the product unsafe.
Unauthorised modifications, tuning, speed unlocking, limiter removal, controller changes, battery changes, software changes, wiring modifications, or the installation of incompatible parts can affect safety, legality, warranty coverage, and insurance.
Any product that has been modified, tampered with, speed-unlocked or used outside the manufacturer's guidance may no longer be covered by warranty and may not be legal for use on public roads.
Electric Scooters London is not responsible for unlawful use, unsafe modifications, third-party alterations or damage caused by unauthorised changes made after purchase.
Repair and servicing work is carried out based on the information available at the time of inspection. Some faults may only become visible after further testing, disassembly or use.
Where we provide diagnostics, repair or servicing, we will use reasonable care and skill. However, we are not responsible for pre-existing faults, hidden damage, water damage, previous poor repair work, unauthorised modifications, incompatible parts, general wear and tear, or issues unrelated to the work we carried out.
If a product is unsafe to use, we may advise that it should not be ridden until further repair or replacement work is completed.
Warranty coverage is separate from your statutory rights. Warranty terms may vary depending on the brand, model, component, and manufacturer's policy.
Your statutory rights under UK law remain in place if goods are faulty, not as described, not of satisfactory quality, or not fit for purpose.
A warranty claim does not automatically create a right to reject the product for a full refund. Depending on the issue, the age of the product, inspection results, manufacturer guidance, and applicable Law, the appropriate remedy may be troubleshooting, adjustment, replacement parts, repair, manufacturer assessment, replacement, or refund.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of income, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or loss of use, except where required by Law.
You agree to be responsible for claims, losses, damages, penalties, costs or expenses arising from your unlawful use, misuse, unauthorised modification, unsafe operation, breach of this policy or breach of applicable Law, except where our negligence, breach of statutory duty or breach of your statutory rights cause the issue.
