The ENGWE Zip Lightweight Folding Electric Bike is designed for commuting, mixed-mode journeys and compact indoor storage. Its patented triple-folding steel frame, single-sided front fork and quick-release pedals allow it to fold into a compact package measuring approximately 62.5 × 37.4 × 67.3 cm.
A UK-specification 36V 250W rear hub motor produces up to 40 Nm of torque, while a torque sensor adjusts the assistance in response to the rider’s pedalling effort. The removable 36V 10Ah LG-cell battery provides 360 Wh of energy, supports PD 3.0 USB-C charging and power output, and delivers a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 120 km (74.6 miles).
ENGWE’s patented triple-folding system combines a folding steel frame, a folding stem, and a single-sided front fork. Once familiar with the mechanism, ENGWE describes the folding action as taking around three seconds. The quick-release pedals can also be removed and stored in their dedicated holders when the bike is folded.
The folded bike measures approximately 62.5 cm long, 37.4 cm wide and 67.3 cm high, making it suitable for storage in smaller homes, offices and car boots. ENGWE advises that manually measured dimensions may vary by up to 5 cm.
The 36V 250W rear hub motor provides up to 40 Nm of torque. Its rear-mounted position supports balanced everyday handling, while the torque sensor responds to the rider’s pedalling input, providing smoother, more proportional assistance than a basic cadence-only system.
Three pedal-assistance levels allow the rider to select the preferred balance between support and battery range. In its standard UK configuration, electrical assistance is limited to 15.5 mph(25 km/h).
The removable 36V 10Ah lithium-ion battery provides 360 Wh of capacity and uses LG cells with a battery management system. It can be removed from the bike for convenient indoor charging.
Two USB-C ports support PD 3.0 charging and discharging, allowing the battery to power compatible external devices when it is not being charged. The supplied 100W GaN PD charger uses a USB-C interface, and the ENGWE manual states that the full charging time is approximately 6.5 hours.
ENGWE publishes estimated ranges of up to 120 km at PAS 1, 85 km at PAS 2 and 60 km at PAS 3.
The 16 × 1.95-inch urban hybrid tyres provide a practical balance of grip, stability and compact folded size. They are fitted to 16-inch steel rims with 13-gauge spokes.
A 10-position adjustable suspension seatpost helps absorb vibration beneath the rider, while the padded saddle supports everyday comfort. The front uses a single-sided folding fork and does not have front suspension.
Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes use 160 mm rotors for controlled braking and consistent lever response. The drivetrain combines a Shimano Tourney RD-TY300 rear derailleur with a Shimano SL-M315-7R Rapidfire shifter and an 11–28T 7-speed cassette.
A 48T chainring and 152 mm crank arms complete the transmission, giving the rider seven mechanical gears for starting, gradients and different riding conditions.
The centrally mounted 3.2-inch colour LCD displays speed, battery level, assistance setting, trip distance and other ride information. Bluetooth connectivity enables supported controls and ride functions through the ENGWE App.
Lighting includes a K-Mark-certified LED headlight and a K-Mark-certified rear light. ENGWE lists component water-resistance ratings of IPX7 for the wiring, IPX6 for the display and lights, and IPX5 for the motor, controller and battery. The complete bike is listed as IPX5 in the manual and should not be submerged or cleaned with a pressure washer.

In its standard UK configuration, the ENGWE Zip uses a 250W continuous-rated motor and limits electrical assistance to 15.5 mph(25 km/h). It is configured to UK EAPC power and assistance parameters. It must not be modified in a way that changes its power, speed or assistance operation for use on public roads.
The bike weighs approximately 16.9 kg without the removable battery and 19.4 kg with the battery installed. The packaged gross weight is approximately 25.5 kg.
ENGWE lists a folded size of approximately 62.5 × 37.4 × 67.3 cm. The patented triple-folding system is designed to fold in around three seconds once the rider is familiar with the mechanism.
Yes. The battery has two USB-C ports supporting PD 3.0 charging and discharging. When the battery is not being charged, it can supply power to compatible devices such as smartphones, tablets and lights. The battery should not be used as a power bank while charging.
ENGWE publishes estimates of up to 120 km at PAS 1, 85 km at PAS 2 and 60 km at PAS 3. Actual range depends on the rider, luggage, terrain, temperature, assist setting, tyre pressure, wind and riding conditions.
The compact folding design is suitable for mixed-mode journeys, but train, coach and other transport operators apply their own bicycle and battery rules. Check the relevant operator’s current policy before travelling.
No. The compatible ENGWE Zip rear rack is an optional accessory sold separately and has a manufacturer-listed maximum load of 15 kg.
