Helmet FAQs

Measure around the widest part of your head, just above your eyebrows, and compare the measurement with the size chart for that helmet. Sizing varies between brands and models, so use the specific manufacturer's chart rather than your usual size.

A helmet should sit level and feel snug without painful pressure. Adjust the retention system and straps according to its instructions, then check that it does not rock or slide around. An adjustment dial cannot make an unsuitable shell size fit correctly.

Choose a helmet for the activity and conditions it is designed for. Check the product's stated intended use and safety standards; a cycling helmet is not automatically suitable for motorcycling or every type of scooter riding.

Follow the manufacturer's replacement guidance and replace a helmet after an impact, even if damage is not visible. Check the shell, liner, straps and fastening regularly, and stop using it if they are damaged or no longer work correctly.
