Full suspension and folding practicality with extra battery choice

The ENGWE Engine X pairs a 250W rear hub motor with front and rear suspension and 20 × 4.0-inch fat tyres. The folding aluminium frame gives you a more compact storage option, while Shimano seven-speed gears let you adjust your pedalling effort.

Choose the standard 48V 13Ah battery package or the version with an extra 13Ah rear rack battery. A removable main battery, LCD display, mudguards and lights support regular use. At approximately 31.7 kg before any extra battery, it needs considered handling when folded.

Real-world range ENGWE advertises up to 100 km (62 miles) of pedal-assisted range with the standard battery. Actual range varies with load, hills, surface, weather and assistance. The extra battery adds capacity; no combined test range is quoted.

Key features

  • Front and rear suspension: A suspension fork and rear shock help absorb bumps, working with wide 20 × 4.0-inch tyres on uneven surfaces.
  • Choice of battery package: The standard bike includes a 48V 13Ah internal battery. The extra rear rack battery option adds a second 13Ah pack for more available energy.
  • Folding frame: The frame folds to approximately 104 × 55 × 84 cm, reducing the storage footprint while retaining full-size riding proportions.
  • Simple riding controls: Five assistance levels, Shimano seven-speed gears and an LCD showing riding information give you separate control over motor help and pedalling ratio.

Frequently Asked Questions

What changes with the extra rear rack battery option?

It adds a 13Ah rear rack battery to the standard 48V 13Ah internal battery. Choose the battery package in the product options; the standard version includes the internal battery only.

Does the extra battery double the advertised range?

The second battery increases available energy, but a verified combined test range is not published here. Actual distance depends on how and where you ride, as well as the added load.

Can I charge the main battery off the bike?

Yes. The internal battery is removable after opening the folding frame and releasing its key lock. Use the supplied charger; ENGWE quotes around 6.5 hours for charging the main battery.

How small does the bike fold?

The quoted folded dimensions are 104 × 55 × 84 cm. The standard model weighs approximately 31.7 kg, with additional weight for the extra battery package, so check storage access and lifting arrangements.

Does it have hydraulic brakes?

No. This Engine X has front and rear mechanical disc brakes with 160 mm rotors. It has Shimano seven-speed gears and front and rear suspension.
