If a Xiaomi M365 or Xiaomi M365 Pro starts beeping, flashing or showing a number on its dashboard, the scooter has detected a fault. The code can help identify whether the problem involves the throttle, brake lever, motor, battery-management system, dashboard or controller.
This guide explains the principal M365 and M365 Pro error codes, how to read them and which external checks are reasonably safe before arranging a professional inspection.
How to read Xiaomi M365 error codes
The original Xiaomi M365 commonly reports faults through long and short beeps or flashes:
- Long beeps or flashes indicate the first digit.
- Short beeps or flashes indicate the second digit.
For example, two long beeps followed by six short beeps indicate error code 26.
The Xiaomi M365 Pro normally displays the error number directly on its dashboard. The Xiaomi Home or Mi Home app may also provide fault information when the scooter can still connect.

Dashboard communication fault
Meaning: Communication between the dashboard or Bluetooth module and the motor controller has been interrupted.
Safe check: Restart once and inspect the visible dashboard and stem cable for obvious damage or crushing.
Motor phase A current fault
Meaning: The controller has detected an abnormal reading in one motor-current channel.
Safe check: Switch off the scooter. A returning controller-current fault requires professional testing.
Motor phase B current fault
Meaning: An abnormal current reading has been detected in another motor phase or controller channel.
Safe check: Restart once. If the code returns, do not continue riding.
Motor phase C current fault
Meaning: The controller has detected an abnormal current reading in the third motor phase.
Safe check: The controller, motor wiring and motor require suitable electrical testing.
Throttle sensor fault
Meaning: The throttle Hall sensor is reporting an abnormal signal, or the throttle was not in its neutral position during startup.
Safe check: Release the throttle completely, confirm that it returns freely and restart without touching it.
Brake-lever sensor fault
Meaning: The brake Hall sensor is reporting an abnormal signal, or the lever was held during startup.
Safe check: Release the brake fully and check that the lever returns normally. Do not bypass the brake sensor.
Motor Hall sensor fault
Meaning: The controller is receiving an abnormal signal from the position sensors inside the motor.
Safe check: Inspect the external motor cable near the wheel for visible damage. Do not ride if the motor judders or behaves unpredictably.
Battery communication fault
Meaning: Communication between the controller and the battery-management system has been interrupted.
Safe check: Restart once. Persistent battery-communication faults require internal diagnosis.
BMS authentication fault
Meaning: Battery-management authentication, password or stored data has been rejected.
Safe check: Do not flash or modify the battery firmware. Arrange professional diagnosis.
BMS serial-number or data fault
Meaning: The controller has detected incorrect or default battery-management data.
Safe check: Confirm whether the battery or electronics have previously been replaced or modified.
Abnormal system voltage
Meaning: The measured system or battery voltage is outside the expected range.
Safe check: Disconnect the charger and confirm that it is the correct model. Do not charge if the battery is hot, swollen or damaged.
Controller memory fault
Meaning: The motor controller has detected a flash-memory or stored-data problem.
Safe check: Restart once. If the error returns, the controller requires diagnosis.
Controller authentication fault
Meaning: The controller’s authentication, password or stored configuration is not accepted.
Safe check: Avoid further firmware changes and record any previously replaced electronic components.
Controller MOSFET high-side fault
Meaning: The controller has detected a power-transistor fault in the motor-control circuit.
Safe check: Stop using the scooter. The controller and motor circuit require professional testing.
Controller MOSFET low-side fault
Meaning: Another section of the controller’s power stage has reported a fault.
Safe check: Do not ride. Controller repair or replacement may be required after diagnosis.
Controller program fault
Meaning: Some controller versions use this code for a program, firmware or execution error.
Safe check: Restart once. Do not install unofficial firmware in an attempt to hide the fault.
Scooter serial-number fault
Meaning: The dashboard, controller or stored serial-number data may not match.
Safe check: Record whether the dashboard or controller has been replaced. Professional configuration may be required.
Battery temperature fault
Meaning: The battery-temperature reading is abnormal or its temperature sensor is reporting a fault.
Safe check: Switch off and allow the scooter to return naturally to a suitable temperature. Do not use direct heat.
Controller temperature fault
Meaning: The controller is overheating or its temperature sensor is reporting an abnormal reading.
Safe check: Switch off and allow the scooter to cool naturally. If the code returns under normal conditions, arrange an inspection.
What to check before replacing parts
Record the exact code
Write down the dashboard number or count the long and short beeps or flashes.
Release the controls
Confirm that the throttle and brake lever both move and return freely before restarting.
Restart once
Switch the scooter off for several minutes and restart it without touching the throttle or brake.
Check the approved charger
Confirm that the battery has charge and that the correct charger is being used.
Inspect visible cables
Look only for obvious external cuts, crushing, looseness, impact damage or moisture. Do not open the deck or battery.
Check the official app
If the scooter can still connect, record any additional fault information shown in the Xiaomi Home or Mi Home app.
When to stop immediately
- The battery or deck is swollen, distorted, leaking or unusually hot.
- You notice smoke, hissing, a chemical smell or melted wiring.
- The brake, throttle or motor operates unpredictably.
- The motor judders, locks or repeatedly cuts out.
- A controller, battery or motor code returns after restarting.
- The scooter has suffered significant water or crash damage.
Can a Xiaomi error code be reset?
A temporary code caused by holding the throttle or brake during startup, very low charge or excessive temperature may clear once the cause has been removed and the scooter has been restarted.
A code that repeatedly returns should not simply be reset, hidden or deleted through unofficial firmware. It may indicate damaged wiring, a faulty sensor, incompatible electronics or an internal controller or battery fault.
